Support
Questions, problems, or a figure you think is wrong — all to the same address.
One person answers, so please allow a few working days.
Please don’t send personal details. We do not need your National Insurance number, your award letter, your bank details, your address or anyone’s date of birth, and we would rather not receive them. To report a wrong figure, tell us what the app showed, what you expected, and roughly which circumstances applied. That is enough for us to reproduce it.
Why is my estimate different from my actual award?
An estimate is worked out from what you told the app and the published rates for the tax year. Your award is a decision made by the government department responsible for Universal Credit where you live, on your full circumstances, including things the app does not ask about.
Where the app knows it is making an assumption, it says so on the result screen. Those notes are usually where a difference comes from.
Which benefits and places does it cover?
Universal Credit estimates for England, Scotland and Wales. Other benefits are planned.
- Northern Ireland isn’t supported yet: benefits and housing support are administered differently there, so the app stops and says so when you enter a Northern Ireland postcode.
- In Wales, the estimate leaves out private-rent housing costs for now, and the result says so.
- It doesn’t cover households where someone has reached State Pension age.
Where something has been left out of an estimate, the app names it rather than staying silent.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, entirely. The rates are built into the app and the calculation runs on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing is sent anywhere — see the privacy policy.
How do I delete my saved calculations?
Delete any saved calculation inside the app. Deleting the app removes everything else it has stored. Nothing has left your device, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.
Do the rates get updated?
Yes. Benefit rates change each tax year, which runs from 6 April to 5 April, and the app is updated as new rates are published. Every estimate says which tax year’s rates it used.
Accessibility
The app’s text follows the text size set on your iPhone or iPad, up to the largest accessibility sizes, and it works in both light and dark appearance. If something is hard to use, please tell us at support@ukbenefitscheck.co.uk. That counts as a bug.
Is this an official government app?
No. UK Benefits Check is an independent calculator. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Department for Work and Pensions or any government department, and it cannot make, change or see any benefit decision.
What happens to an email you send us?
We use it only to answer and manage your request, we keep it for up to 12 months from the last message, and we delete it sooner if you ask. The privacy policy sets this out in full.
